Drinking Well, Not Just Drinking More

At Bobson Spirits, one of the ideas behind what we're doing is simple:

We want to drink well.

That doesn't necessarily mean drinking more expensive whisky. And it certainly doesn't mean having the biggest collection of bottles.

For us, drinking well means being more curious about what's in the glass.

It means looking beyond the obvious names, discovering different distilleries, exploring independent bottlings and paying attention to the cask, maturation and flavour profile. Sometimes the most rewarding whisky isn't the bottle with the biggest name on the label — it's the one that surprises you.

That's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about independent bottlers like Decadent Drinks.

An independent bottler is not beholden to a house style or brand. They can take a whisky from a distillery you may know and present it in a completely different way. A particular cask can bring out flavours and characteristics that you might never experience from the distillery's standard range.

For whisky lovers, that's where things get really interesting.

Well-Chosen Whisky Is About Discovery

That's exactly what attracted me to the Decadent Drams Inchmurrin 12 Year Old bottled at 53% ABV.

Inchmurrin already has a style that I love, particularly its lovely tropical notes. Decadent Drinks then brings its own expertise in selecting interesting casks and presenting the whisky in a way that lets its character shine.

For me, that's drinking well.

Not chasing a label.

Not chasing an age statement.

Not chasing a price.

Chasing flavour.

Why This Matters in Singapore

Singapore has developed into a fantastic market for whisky. There are knowledgeable drinkers, serious collectors and an increasing appreciation for independent Scotch whisky.

But with so much choice, I think there is an opportunity to look beyond the usual suspects.

That's where I see Bobson Spirits fitting in.

I want to bring interesting whisky to Singapore that I genuinely want to drink myself.

If I wouldn't be excited to open the bottle with friends, it probably doesn't belong in the Bobson Spirits range.

The goal isn't to build the biggest whisky catalogue. It's to build a selection of bottles that are worth drinking.

And hopefully, bottles that introduce people to something they might otherwise never have discovered.

Drink Less Predictably. Drink Well.

The first Bobson Spirits drop — Decadent Drams Inchmurrin 12 Year Old — is a pretty good expression of that philosophy.

It's a whisky I enjoy.

It's from a bottler I admire.

It has a distinctive flavour profile.

It isn't something you'll find everywhere in Singapore.

And, most importantly, I think it's good whisky.

That's what Bobson Spirits is about.

Finding great whisky. Bringing it to Singapore. And helping people drink well.

Because whisky isn't meant to sit in a cupboard forever.

Open the bottle. Pour the dram. Take your time. Discover what's in the glass.

Drink Well.
